Like I wrote about last time periodontal disease is characterized by bone loss. Periodontal disease is completely painless until it’s way too late. Things that could indicated you have periodontal disease are if your gums bleed when you brush or floss. Receding gums can be a symptom of periodontal disease. Bad breath is a common symptom of periodontal disease. But the only way to know for sure if you do or do not have periodontal disease is to see a dentist. We take x-rays that show the bone level around the teeth and can determine bone loss from that. We also take measurements of the gums to help us determine the severity of the disease and the correct treatment.
How do I know I have periodontal disease?
