Fluoride varnish is amazing! It’s definitely one of my favorite products in the world. Right up there is duct tape and chocolate. What makes it so amazing you ask? Well let me tell you!!!
- It helps prevent tooth decay. I’m not going to go into all of how fluoride prevents tooth decay as I have in previous blogs but it’s pretty amazing.
- It helps reduce sensitivity. Dentin, the second layer of our teeth is made up of tubules. Imagine like a handful of straws. In some people wear or recession has exposed the dentin or cementum of their teeth. This exposes the ends of those tubules to the outside. Having these tubules exposed can lead to a lot of sensitivity. Fluoride can coat the end of those tubules, preventing the sensitivity.
